Plot of the change in radius RA − rA of the minority atoms on alloying versus RA/RB for 19 AsNa3-type compounds. rA is the radius of the A atom in the structure and is calculated from the lattice parameters as rA = [a/31/2 − (12a2+c2)1/2/12]. The points can be fitted to an equation RA − rA = −1.308 + 2.693(RA/RB) − 1.037(RA/RB)2. Lattice parameters of new compounds of the same structure type can estimated with good accuracy from the observed correlation, as demonstrated in Table 1. |
