Cu3V10O28·24H2O and CuNa4V10O28·23H2O exhibit catenary structures of [V10O28]6− anions linked by Cu2+ cations and by Na+ cations, respectively.

The title compound contains short Ag—O bonds supported by the reduction of the Raman stretching frequency of the Tc—O bonds.

The trigonal polytype of orthoboric acid consists of pseudo-hexagonal sheets of hydrogen-bonded B(OH)3 molecules, with van der Waals forces binding adjacent sheets and repetition after every third sheet.

Single crystals of a new aquahydroxidocopper(II) oxovanadium(IV) vanadate have been synthesized hydrothermally at 473 K. The three-dimensional structure presents layers of vanadate tetrahedra and distorted oxovanadium octahedra connected by Cu atoms.

Zn2(TeO3)Cl2 has a layered structure in which the Cl atoms and the 5s2 lone pairs of the TeIV atom protrude from the surfaces of each layer towards adjacent layers, which are only held together by dispersion forces. The compound is isostructural with the synthetic compound CuZn(TeO3)Cl2 and the mineral sophiite, Zn2(SeO3)Cl2.

Dilanthanum triniobium disulfide octaoxide, La2Nb3S2O8, crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pnnm and is isostructural with the Ln2Ta3X2O8 (Ln = La, Ce, Pr and Nd, and X = S and Se) family of tantalum compounds.

The title compound is a new acidic pyrophosphate metallate. It consists of cobalt–pyrophosphate layers joined by K+ ions and H-atom bridges. The Co2+ ions are octahedrally surrounded by four pyrophosphate O atoms and two water molecules.

Acta Crystallographica Section C is planning special issues on

The Structural Chemistry of Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Catalysts

NMR Crystallography.

Full details are available on the special issues page.

The latest virtual issue, featuring Coordination polymers and with an introduction by Len Barbour, was published in July 2014.
