¹Note that the same procedure may be applied in reverse for structure-factor calculation: density is calculated on a fine grid, convoluted with the spline function to obtain values at coarse grid sites, transformed and a spectral correction applied to the resulting structure factors. This is a particularly effective approach for the fast calculation of E values from coordinates, since the convolution of the spline function with a -function can be constructed analytically.
