Structures of other F-box protein dimers. (a) The crystal structure of the D domain of β-TrCP (PDB entry 2p64 ; Tang et al., 2007BB29) shows a parallel superhelical dimer. The two protomers are coloured red and blue. (b) The crystal structure of the Fbx4core–Skp1 complex (PDB entry 3l2o ; Li & Hao, 2010BB21) shows an antiparallel dimer. The two protomers are roughly separated by the black line indicated as the `dimer interface'. The Fbx4 fragment contains the F-box motif, a linker region and the substrate-binding G domain. Dimerization is mediated by interaction between a loop within the linker region and the G domain.
