An Echo 550 liquid-handling robot was used to position droplets of a perforin crystal suspension inline with grid ports immediately prior to flash-cooling in liquid nitrogen. (b) Two crystals of perforin positioned over a grid port during data collection at LCLS-XPP. A hole is clearly visible in the top crystal where it has been exposed to the X-ray beam. The bottom crystal is still intact.
