Shown are electron-density maps from the 1.38 Å resolution structure of bovine lactoferrin (PDB entry 3tod; Twilight rank 41; Crystal structure of C-lobe of bovine lactoferrin complexed with 1-butyl-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxylic acid at 1.38 Å resolution). Some electron density is clearly present that fits part of the peptide molecule well, while the rest of it is missing owing to disorder or other unknown reasons.
