The wavenumber representing amide I decreases from 1661 to 1656 cm−1 as the pH increases, reflecting elongation of the carbonyl double bond. The increase in the wavenumber peak of amide III from 1306 to 1309 cm−1 may reflect a shortening of the bond between the amide C and N atoms.
