Abstract: The crystal structure of 4,4'-bipyridine-3,3'-dicarboxylic acid dihydrate, C12H8N2O4·2H2O, has been determined at 130 (1) K. The molecule exists in a zwitterionic form in the crystal and forms an extensive network of hydrogen bonds via the incorporated water molecules.
