catena-Poly[[dicyanamidobis(3-hydroxypyridine-N)copper(II)]--dicyanamido]

Abstract: In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Cu^II{N(CN)₂}₂(C₅H₅NO)₂], the geometry around the copper(II) ion is distorted square pyramidal, with the basal plane formed by the N atoms of two 3-hydroxypyridine molecules, one N atom of a bidentate dicyanamide anion and one N atom of a monodentate dicyanamide anion. The apical position is occupied by an N atom of a bidentate dicyanamide anion, forming a one-dimensional polymeric chain.
