Abstract: The title compound [1,2:3,4-(CuBtsa)₂-1,4:2,3-(CuMes)₂] [Btsa is N(SiMe₃)₂; Mes is 2,4,6-Me₃C₆H₂] or [Cu₄(C₉H₁₁)₂(C₆H₁₈NSi₂)₂], was obtained as the product of a ligand redistribution between the Ge^II amide, GeBtsa₂, and the Cu^I aryl, CuMes. It contains an almost planar eight-membered central ring, Cu₄C₂N₂, with two-coordinate Cu atoms (average Cu-C = 1.986  Å; average Cu-N = 1.936  Å; average C-Cu-N = 169.97°).
