3-Hydroxy-1-(3-imidazolylpropyl)-2-methyl-4-pyridinone dihydrochloride dihydrate

Abstract: The crystal structure of the title compound, C₁₂H₁₇N₃O₂²⁺·2Cl^-·2H₂O, has been determined. The effects of protonating the ketonic oxygen with regard to bond distances within the hydroxypyridinone moiety are discussed and compared to the equivalent bond distances in the parent compounds 3-hydroxy-1,2-dimethyl-4-pyridinone hydrochloride monohydrate and hydrobromide monohydrate and 3-hydroxy-1,2-dimethyl-4-pyridinone itself.
