Chloral adduct of N-hydroxypiperidine

Abstract: The title compound, N-(2,2,2-trichloro-1-hydroxyethoxy)piperidine, C₇H₁₂Cl₃NO₂, contains a six-membered piperidine ring with a chair conformation. The triclinic unit cell contains two independent pairs of molecules, with the molecules in each pair linked about centres of symmetry by O-HN hydrogen bonds.
