Abstract: In the title compound, C5H12NO2+·C2Cl3O2-, the valine molecule is in a cationic state and the trichloroacetic acid is in the anionic state. In the crystal, the intermolecular N-H...O and O-H...O hydrogen bonds link the molecules to form an infinite two-dimensional network parallel to (001).
