Abstract: The structure of the sesquiterpene lactone matricarin, C17H20O2, is composed of a seven-membered ring that adopts a chair conformation, fused to two five-membered rings, one of which is essentially planar and the other exhibits an envelope conformation. The structure is devoid of any classical hydrogen bonds.
