Abstract: The title compound, C₅₂H₅₆O₂P₂, was synthesized conveniently from (S)-2,2'-dihydroxy-5,5',6,6',7,7',8,8'-octahydro-1,1'-binaphthyl and bis(3,5-dimethylphenyl)phosphine chloride in high yield. The molecule has crystallographic twofold rotation symmetry.
