1-Benzoyl-2(S)-tert-butyl-4-methoxy-6(S)-carbomethoxy-1,2,5,6-tetrahydro-1,3-pyrimidine: a useful precursor of -alkylated aspartic acids

Abstract: In the title compound, C₁₈H₂₄N₂O₄, the tert-butyl and carbomethoxy substituents on the central ring are syn with respect to each other. The conformation of the central ring is such that the C atom carrying the carbomethoxy group lies 0.609  (2)  Å out of the mean plane of the other five atoms.
