Abstract: The title compound, C₂₁H₁₆O₃, is a key intermediate in the design of chiral amines. It is composed of three benzene rings and two other six-membered rings with a common chiral C atom. Racemic dimers are generated by C-HO hydrogen bonds, formed by phenyl C-H groups and carbonyl O atoms.
