A polynuclear lanthanum(III) complex of dipicolinic acid

Abstract: The title compound, diaqua(pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylato)(6-carboxypyridine-2-carboxylato)lanthanum(III) dihydrate ethanol solvate, [La^III(C₇H₄NO₄)(C₇H₃NO₄)(H₂O)₂]·2H₂O·C₂H₅OH, is a polynuclear complex in which neighbouring La^III ions are bridged by the carboxylate O atoms of the anionic ligand molecules. The central La^III atom is coordinated by two N,O,O'-tridentate dipicolinic acid ligands, and two water O atoms. The coordination number of the La^III ion is nine.
