meso-(4-Nitrophenyl)dipyrromethane

Abstract: The title compound, meso-(4-nitrophenyl)di-2-pyrrolylmethane, C₁₅H₁₃N₃O₂, was synthesized by an acid-catalysed single-pot reaction of pyrrole and p-nitrobenzaldehyde. The molecular structure has been characterized precisely by low-temperature single-crystal analysis. The crystal structure exhibits weak N-HO intermolecular hydrogen bonds.
