Abstract: The title molecule, C17H14O, contains p-methylbenzylidene and 1-indanone moieties. The 1-indanone moiety is nearly planar and it forms a dihedral angle of 7.2 (2)° with the plane through the methylphenyl ring. The crystal structure is stabilized by C-H
O intermolecular interactions.
