Abstract: The regio-, relative, and absolute stereochemistry of the title compound, C₁₆H₁₃BrO₂, have been established. Molecules are linked by intermolecular O-HO hydrogen bonds [HO 2.00  (6)  Å and O-HO 168  (7)°] through 2₁ screw axes to form chains in the a-axis direction.
