-glycinato] trichloride monohydrate]Abstract: The title complex, [La(C2H5NO2)3(H2O)2]Cl3·H2O or [La(gly)3(H2O)2]Cl3·H2O, is a one-dimensional coordination polymer. Its basic repeat unit contains three glycine molecules in the zwitterion form and two coordinated water molecules. Three carboxyl moieties of the three glycine molecules serve as bridging groups, which connect the neighbouring LaIII ions. The coordination number of lanthanum is nine. Intermolecular hydrogen bonds, involving water molecules and chloride ions, form a three-dimensional network.
