L-Ornithine nitrate

Abstract: In the title compound, C₅H₁₃N₂O₂⁺·NO₃^-, both the - and -amino N atoms form strong N-HO hydrogen bonds with the carboxyl group and nitrate anions. The straight side-chain conformation shows an all trans form.
