Abstract: The title compound, C₇H₃I₃O₂, crystallizes in space group P2₁2₁2₁ with a different molecular packing from the tribromo derivative (space group Pca2₁). The molecules are linked in chains, running parallel to the c axis through weak O-HO hydrogen bonds.
