(4RS,5RS)-4-Phenyl-5-(4-tolylthiocarbonyl)oxazolidin-2-one

Abstract: The title compound, C₁₇H₁₅NO₃S, is the product of an epoxidation reaction, followed by cyclization and hydrolysis of the resulting epoxide. There are two independent molecules in the asymmetric unit, both with a slightly twisted heterocyclic ring. N-HO=C hydrogen bonds link the molecules together into centrosymmetric sets of four.
