4,4'-[2,2-Methylenebis(4-chlorophenoxy)]diphthalonitrile

Abstract: The title compound, C₂₉H₁₄Cl₂N₄O₂, (I), contains four phenyl rings. Two of these carry two cyano groups each, whereas the other two carry one Cl atom each. The structure involves four planar phenyl rings. The structure of (I) is stabilized by C-HN-type intermolecular close contacts.
