Diethyl N,N'-o-phenylenedioxamate

Abstract: The crystal structure analysis of the title compound, C₆H₄(NHC₂O₃C₂H₅)₂ or C₁₄H₁₆N₂O₆, reveals a molecule with both oxamate groups twisted with respect to the benzene ring, as a result of steric interactions and the presence of three strong N-HO and one weak C-HO intramolecular hydrogen bonds. Centrosymmetrically related molecules form dimers connected by two N-HO hydrogen bonds.
