Abstract: The title compound, guanidinium pyromellitate, 2[C(NH2)3]+·(C10H4O8)2- or 2 CH6N3+·C10H4O82-, comprises a 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylate anion and two guanidinium cations. The carboxylate anions lie on centers of inversion and involve intramolecular O-H
O hydrogen bonds. The cations and anions are linked by strong three-dimensional N-H
O hydrogen bonds and
-
-stacking interactions into a three-dimensional framework containing a one-dimensional channel along the diagonal of the ca plane. The N-H
O hydrogen-bond distances range from 2.899 (6) to 3.068 (5) Å.
