Guanidinium pyromellitate

Abstract: The title compound, guanidinium pyromellitate, 2[C(NH₂)₃]⁺·(C₁₀H₄O₈)^2- or 2 CH₆N₃⁺·C₁₀H₄O₈^2-, comprises a 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylate anion and two guanidinium cations. The carboxylate anions lie on centers of inversion and involve intramolecular O-HO hydrogen bonds. The cations and anions are linked by strong three-dimensional N-HO hydrogen bonds and --stacking interactions into a three-dimensional framework containing a one-dimensional channel along the diagonal of the ca plane. The N-HO hydrogen-bond distances range from 2.899 (6) to 3.068 (5) Å.
