Abstract: The title compound, also known as N-(3-nitrophenyl)acetamide, C₈H₈N₂O₃, is an organic non-linear optical material. It crystallizes in the monoclinic system in the chiral space group P2₁, and there are four independent molecules in the asymmetric unit.
