Abstract: The indole and indane moieties of the title molecule, C18H13NO, form a dihedral angle of 10.2  (2)°. In the crystal structure, symmetry-related molecules are linked by intermolecular N-H...O and C-H...O hydrogen bonds to form infinite one-dimensional chains along the b axis. This chain structure is further stabilized by [pi]-[pi] and C-H...[pi] interactions.
