2-(1H-Indol-3-ylmethylene)indane-1-one

Abstract: The indole and indane moieties of the title molecule, C₁₈H₁₃NO, form a dihedral angle of 10.2  (2)°. In the crystal structure, symmetry-related molecules are linked by intermolecular N-HO and C-HO hydrogen bonds to form infinite one-dimensional chains along the b axis. This chain structure is further stabilized by - and C-H interactions.
