4,7-Bis(trimethylsilylethynyl)-2,1,3-benzothiadiazole

Abstract: The title compound, C₁₆H₂₀N₂SSi₂ is a rigid-rod protected dialkyne. It is used as a model species for platinum-containing compounds of which it is a precursor. Such compounds are of interest due to the extended -conjugation exhibited through the heteroaromatic linker unit in the backbone. The molecule is pseudo-linear, with a planar central benzothiadiazole group.
