Abstract: catena-Poly[dimethylphenyltin(IV)--trifluoroacetato-O:O'], [(CH₃)₂(C₆H₅)SnOC(O)CF₃]_n, adopts a helical carboxylate-bridged chain structure, in which the Sn atom shows trans-C₃SnO₂ trigonal-bipyramidal coordination, with unequal Sn-O distances of 2.181  (2) and 2.580  (2)  Å.
