(2,6-Diisopropylphenyl)isopropylideneammonium iodide

Abstract: The title compound, C₁₄H₂₄N⁺·I^-, was formed by a Schiff base condensation of 2,6-diisopropylaniline and acetone, using GaI as a Lewis acid. A strong interaction from the iminium hydrogen N-H to the iodide counter-ion is observed. The ¹H and ¹³C NMR data are also reported.
