Abstract: The structure of the title compound, C₂₃H₂₇N₂O₂⁺·I^-, was determined from a 0.14 × 0.10 × 0.003  mm crystal using synchrotron X-radiation. The cation charge is delocalized and there is strong O-HI^- intermolecular hydrogen bonding.
