Abstract: The reaction between the metal diphosphine [Ag(PPh3)2(MeCN)](SbF6) and the metal acetylide compound Pt(dmbpy)(C2Ph)2 (dmbpy is 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine) gave the title compound, Pt(dmbpy)(C2Ph)·SbF6 or [Pt(C8H5)(C18H15P)(C12H12N2)](SbF6). The Pt center is four-coordinated and exhibits a distorted square-planar coordination geometry.
