Guest differentiation in a 6^I,6^II-disubstituted -cyclodextrin

Abstract: The structure of 6^I,6^II-dideoxy-6^I-(p-methylbenzylthio)-6^II- phenylthio--cyclodextrin tetradecahydrate, C₅₆H₈₂O₃₃S₂·14H₂O, has been determined. Of the two substituents, only the phenylthio moiety is included in the cavity of adjacent disubstituted -cyclodextrin (-CD) units, forming a helical polymer.
