Abstract: The title compound, C₂₈H₂₈N₂O₆, is a soluble precursor (`latent pigment') of diketopyrrolopyrrole pigments. The molecules are stacked along the a axis in a parallel arrangement. The present structure of the -form is quite different from that of the previously reported -form [MacLean et al. (2000). J. Chem. Soc. Perkin Trans. 2, pp. 1513-1519].
