2-Amino-4-phenyl-5,6-dihydrobenzo[h]quinazoline

Abstract: The title compound, C₁₈H₁₅N₃, was synthesized by the reaction of 2-phenylmethylidene-3,4-dihydronaphthalen-1(2H)-one with guanidine carbonate in ethylene glycol under microwave irradiation. X-ray analysis revealed the formation of a pyrimidine ring. The partially saturated six-membered ring adopts a distorted boat conformation.
