Abstract: The crystal structure of acetovanillone, C9H10O3, has been determined at 173 (1) K. All the C and O atoms are essentially coplanar, and the molecules pack in parallel planes as a result of intermolecular hydrogen bonds (C-H
O and O-H
O).
