Abstract: The title compound, (C₆H₈N)₂[(Mo₆Cl₈)Cl₆]·2H₂O, the anilinium salt of an Mo^II chloride cluster, shows a rigid and stable hydrogen-bonded network. The chloromolybdate cluster dianion occupies a special position on a twofold axis.
