Abstract: The title compound, C16H9NO4·CH4O, is a coumarin derivative suitable for use as a laser dye. The coumarin and the benzoxazole ring systems in the molecule are planar. The angle between them is 8.03 (7)°. The crystal packing is characterized by hydrogen bonds that form dimers which are, in turn, linked by C-H
O intermolecular interactions in the [100] direction.
