Abstract: The crystal structure of the title compound, C₁₂H₁₆O₃, an analogue of the naturally occurring 1,3-dimethylisochromans or the related naphtho[2,3-c]pyrans, confirms that the C-3 methyl substituent adopts an equatorial position in the solid state.
