Abstract: The title compound, (C6H14N2)[CoCl4], is isostructural with (C6H14N2)[MCl4] (M = Cu, Zn) and contains doubly protonated dabconium C6H14N22+ cations and [CoCl4]2- tetrahedra. These species interact by way of bifurcated N-H
(Cl,Cl) hydrogen bonds to form corrugated chains. The chains interact by way of van der Waals forces and C-H
Cl hydrogen bonds.
