Cytosinium nitrate

Abstract: In the title compound, C₄H₆N₃O⁺·NO₃^-, a two-dimensional network of N-HO hydrogen bonds between the anions and cations generates cytosinium-nitrate parallel layers, linked by enclosed van der Waals interactions. Cytosinium stacking is present, but cytosinium-cytosinium hydrogen bonds are prevented by the presence of planar nitrate anions.
