Abstract: The title structure, C2H10N22+·2Na+·C2H4O7P24-·4H2O or (NH3CH2CH2NH3)Na2(hedp)·4H2O (SDP-2) (hedp = 1-hydroxyethylidenediphosphonate), contains one-dimensional anionic sodium-hedp chains which are connected by N-H...O and O-H...O hydrogen bonds. There are two crystallographically independent P atom environments.
