catena-Poly[1-methylpiperazinium [[aquadioxouranium(VI)]-di--sulfato-⁴O:O']]

Abstract: The title compound, [C₅H₁₄N₂][UO₂(H₂O)(SO₄)₂], contains anionic [UO₂(H₂O)(SO₄)₂]^2- chains with 1-methylpiperazinium cations balancing the charge. Each U^VI atom is seven-coordinate in a pentagonal bipyramidal geometry, and each sulfate tetrahedron bridges two adjacent uranium centres. Neighbouring chains hydrogen bond to one another though the bound water molecules.
