Abstract: The title tetranuclear copper(II) complex, diaquabis[dimethylglyoximato(2-)]bis[dimethylglyoximato(1-)]bis(phenanthroline) tetracopper(II)bis[dimethylglyoximato(2-)]bis[dimethylglyoximato(1-)]bis(phenanthroline)tetracopper(II) tetraperchlorate methanol disolvate, [Cu4(dmg)2(Hdmg)2(phen)2(H2O)2][Cu4(dmg)2(Hdmg)2(phen)2](ClO4)4·2CH3OH (dmg = dimethylglyoximate and phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) or [Cu4(C4H6N2O2)2(C4H7N2O2)2(C12H8N2)2(H2O)2][Cu4(C4H6N2O2)2(C4H7N2O2)2(C12H8N2)2]<(ClO4)4·2CH4O, with cations containing dimethylglyoximato bridges, has been synthesized and its structure determined by X-ray single-crystal diffraction methods. The Cu atoms have two different coordination geometries, distorted square pyramidal and distorted square planar. There are two different cations, each lying on an inversion centre; one contains water molecules coordinated to two of the Cu atoms.
