2,4,5-Trichloro-1-iodobenzene

Abstract: The crystal structure of 2,4,5-trichloroiodobenzene, C₆H₂Cl₃I, a precursor of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), is described. The molecule is disordered in two distinct ways. Despite its lack of inversion point symmetry, it straddles an inversion centre in space group P2₁/n. An additional minor disorder component occurs as a result of a 180° rotation of some molecules about [011].
