Abstract: In the title complex, (C12H11ClN)[Ni(C4N2S2)2], the most prominent structural feature is the completely segregated columnar stacks of anions and cations. The neighbouring anions within the anionic column are equally spaced, with a distance of 4.0917 (8) Å between the Ni atoms. Hence, the Ni3+ ions form an uniformly spaced magnetic chain along the direction of the anionic stacking column.
