Abstract: The title neutral complex, [Co(HG)2(H2O)2] or [Co(C2H3O3)2(H2O)2], contains monoanionic O,O'-bidentate glycolate ligands that chelate the cobalt(II) ion through the carboxylate and hydroxyl O atoms to form five-membered chelate rings. The configuration around the cobalt ion can be described as all-cis. The nature of the ligands permits the formation of a supramolecular architecture based on hydrogen bonding.
